New Wineskins

Matthew 9:14-17

There is a time to mourn and a time to rejoice. Ecclesiastes 3:4

This is the first time Jesus refers to Himself as the bridegroom.

Jesus’s presence should be celebrated.

Jesus uses an old garment and an old wineskin to represent people living under the old covenant.

Jesus is introducing the new covenant with the new patch and new wine. John 2:6-11

Jesus wants to preserve the garments and the wineskins.

You must be born again in order to be able to contain the new wine.
John 3:3, 2 Corinthians 5:17

Judas Iscariot is an example of an old wineskin that was unable to hold the new wine.
John 13:2, 21-30, Acts 1:15-19
