Jesus quotes scripture that was given to guide judges in Israel to rule in three separate situations. Exodus 21:22-25, Leviticus 24:19-20, Deuteronomy 19:16-21
In verse 43, Jesus quotes the law and what the Jewish leaders of His day added to it. Leviticus 19:18
The entire text must be balanced with other scriptures like Matthew 18:17 and Romans 12:17-21.
Jesus is the perfect example of what He is teaching.
The goal is to become like Jesus and His Father.
